Where are the UK’s e-scooter trials?

Zag’s heat-map of the UK’s shared e-scooter trials, by go-live date.

The map below gives an easy quick glance view on the big hotspots across the country by operator.

This map will be updated to reflect any further changes in the heat-map, as well as any new additions or exits as the UK shared e-scooter market continues to grow and change.

The map is centred on England for one reason only – there aren’t any trials in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. All 50+ fleets are English ones.

The shaded grey areas represent major urban locations in the UK where local authorities and councils either haven’t launched shared e-scooter trials yet, or have missed the boat on the Department for Transport’s launch deadline of March 31, 2021.

London has been highlighted in particular – there are plenty near it but none in it (the lengthy delay to a launch in the capital continues…).

The other major area unserved by the trials is West Yorkshire – Leeds/Bradford/Doncaster/Sheffield/Huddersfield, and associated nearby towns.

There is a large population here – and plenty of hills that e-scooters might have been able to tackle – but as yet, no joy for those wishing to step out on a shared e-scooter deck.
